Flash Back

A small story

The name of this story is how he sold a guitar for 2000 Baht, hope u like it.
Long time ago, there lived a young boy named Sam, I mean, he still lives, in fact he works at my office, this is one small tale he told me that was interesting, hence this piece of work, he, i.e. Sam studied in an institution in the north eastern part of Thailand and people here are called the Esan people, any way, getting back to the story, Sam was really young and his school was one of the few Catholic schools in Thailand then, his classes were conducted in forests and as he says Catholics were not very accepted then in Thailand, his school had very poor infrastructure, now, Sam had this small wish then to play a guitar, unfortunately in a school of more than hundred students there were just 10 Guitars, every day there was a lunch break for about 30 minutes, and as the bell rung all of them rushed to get hold of a guitar, most of them ended up disappointed, the lucky ones got to touch and try to play the guitar, Sam on the contrary was a pretty creative guy, he often missed to get hold of a guitar and could not quench his desire, therefore he came up with a plan, he got hold of a wooden T square and drew 6 lines with a pencil and sat right at the end of the class acting as though he was playing the guitar in a rather serious manner, oh yes, just to mention he was a big fan of the Eagles, hence hotel California was his song.
As time went on, Sam got hold of the guitar occasionally and played a bit, time lapsed and on one occasion Sam and his mates came to Bangkok to enter a music competition, now, coming from a Catholic school, Sam and co sang 2 songs, one of them was Hotel California by the Eagles and the other was a Esan song. There were about 45 teams that day and guess what... they won … they were awarded the 45th position. Sam does laugh about this now.
Any way, as time lapsed Sam was done with his school and entered college, and he did some guitar playing and he got out of college to do lots of things, finally landed in a University working as the chief of Assessment department, any way, after Sam got a job one of the first things he did was to go and buy a guitar, and played it till he was satisfied, rather fingers bled, and then forgot the guitar till it was destroyed, he bought a couple of guitars and the story was the same until a few years back he was over inspired and bought an Electric guitar for 6000 Baht, was a bit extravagant but thought he deserved the luxury, obviously he played it a bit and then left it for the rats, one day, Sam was sitting in his house and drinking beer with an old friend of his, both of them were pretty drunk and his friend saw the electric guitar and bought it off Sam for 2000 Baht, Sam was drunk and sold it when he was in trance, today he recalls that the guitar was almost worth 10000 Baht and regrets his decision. He never bought a guitar after that day, may be he will in the future, but the big moral of the story is, “never do business when you are drunk”.

Cheers
